Fan Flower
|
G’day. To look at me, I’ll bet you would never guess I’m an Aussie. An Australian Fan Flower to be precise. You’re probably wondering how such delicate blue flowers and dainty green leaves survive the extreme heat and drought of the outback. Park your billy on the barbie, Sheila, and I’ll tell you. Aussie plants are tough. It’s part of our national character, you might say. Early on, I learned how to survive and look bonzer doing it.
Proven Winners’ breeders did give me a bit of a makeover when I came stateside. My fans are larger, color’s are brighter, and it seems I can’t stop blooming until it frosts. So I am an annual except in zones 10 – 11. Still, I haven’t changed what makes me, me. Heat and drought tolerant, no need to deadhead, 10 -14 inches tall, trailing habit, loves full sun. So if you ever want a bit of Oz about the old homestead, I’d be delighted to hang about in your hanging baskets, window boxes, landscapes, and combos. Good on ya.
